Beaver Creek, located a bit outside Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, has a happy bunch of black bears. The following short videos capture one of the last Beaver Creek Bear dances of the 2025 Bear Year.
The Beaver Creek Bears shown dancing are six-year-old Huey (one of the 2019 Triplets) and younger Rascal. Rascal was a newcomer to Beaver Creek in 2025. For bear identification purposes, Huey has an abnormally long neck and remains rather slender despite his age. Conversely, Rascal has bluish fur and is quite the bear hugger.
The young male Beaver Creek Bears often dance under the lights at The Play Pen, a crossroads of several wildlife trails. The following videos show, inter alia, the Beaver Creek Bears dancing. Specifically, the vidoes show that young Rascal often submarines larger Huey while wrestling and tussling. The videos also show Dewey, Huey's smaller brother, trying his hand as paw shadow art.
In the spring before the bears awake, we often gather our expectations of what the Beaver Creek Bears may show us in the upcoming Bear Year into a ledger of Bear Mystery Theatre questions. The following videos highlight several of our Beaver Creek Bear Mystery Theatre questions for the 2026 Bear Year.
For those interested in foraging and mushrooms, our exquisite bride, Hunter, has an online store with various mushroom products - The Mushroom Lover.
We recommend Hunter's Porcini Rub, which is sublime seasoning when cooking or grilling rib eye steaks. And Hunter's children's book, Where The Mushrooms Are, is a fun way to get your toddlers interested in nature and everything interwald.
